Security on the water

Safety motor boats will be on the water at all times during the race. Local authorities, both on and off the water, will be aware of the on-going event.  A race official will be in charge of cancelling the event should weather conditions pose a danger.

The course is such that paddlers will always be within a short reach of the shore should lightning or any other condition require quick exit of the water.

It is of course the participants’ responsibility to bring proper gear and safety items, to adapt to on-water traffic and to take up the challenge only if personal conditions allow.  Accepting terms and conditions of the waiver will be requested of all participants when registering.

All racers must complete the GMOC waiver and provide it to the organizers before taking part in the competition. The waiver will be available at the registration table the morning of the event.

All individuals accessing the Hudson Yacht Club grounds are to respect the club’s policies.  Namely, it is forbidden to bring his own alcohol or pets.  Inappropriate conduct may lead to expulsion, without refund.

Young children must be under supervision of an adult.

Registration to the competition is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another paddler. Should a racer be unable to attend, the organizing committee would appreciate being notified ahead.

Each racer is responsible of his personal safety.

Each racer is responsible of arriving on time. Start of the race will not be delayed for late comers.

Paddlers are to complete the race in 6 hours or less. Past that duration, time will not be kept (and lunch will start!)

Specific rules for the races will be reviewed during the Captain’s meeting taking place the morning of the race.
